Robotic grinding cell with a KAWASAKI RS50N robot was built in 2018 in
Italy by DAN di De Antoni Srl. The system is designed for the
automatic grinding of aluminium castings, door handles and other
components that require a precise surface finish. The cell can also be
adapted for polishing and other finishing processes.
Grinding takes place within a closed work space using a specially
designed grinding unit. It is equipped with two vertical grinding
wheels and an intelligent pressure force system that automatically
adjusts the pressure force during operation. This solution effectively
removes surface irregularities and ensures repeatable machining
results, which is particularly important in mass production. Any
contamination generated during grinding is removed on an ongoing
basis.
The robotic grinding station is equipped with a KAWASAKI RS50N
grinding robot with a payload of 50 kg, characterised by high motion
dynamics and positioning precision. The robot cooperates with a
pneumatic manipulator, which feeds successive workpieces to its
gripper, enabling the continuous execution of work cycles without the
need for manual operation of the devices. The operation of the station
is also facilitated by a carousel feeder, ensuring an efficient flow
of workpieces. The robotic grinding system is an excellent solution
for production facilities involved in the machining of aluminium,
castings and other workpieces.
