Solex Metrology
Pneumatic Dimensional Measuring Device
PNEUMATIC VERSION
Pneumatic metrology is a technique for measuring parts with two
important advantages:
- High measurement
accuracy
- the speed of measurement
This device is used for dimensional inspection of parts with holes
that must be sized to very tight tolerances, parts that cannot be
touched because of their surface condition, or parts with complex
geometries.
It has been present for many years in industrial sectors such as
biomedical (prostheses), cosmetics (sprays), pharmaceuticals (dosing
pumps), aeronautics and automotive (mechanical parts), where it is
recognized for its robustness, reliability and very high measurement
accuracy.
HOW IT WORKS
The principle is based on a pneumatic flowmeter that proceeds by
directly reading the drop or the pressure rise corresponding to the
variation in flow at an orifice or a leak.
The regulator ensures a strictly constant pressure. The air passes
through the head jet and exits through the orifice to be checked. The
cross-section of the head jet is constant and that of the orifice
varies with the size of the parts being measured, resulting in
pressure variations between the head jet and the orifice, recorded by
the device's pressure gauge.
