Commer was a British manufacturer of commercial vehicles that existed
from 1905 to 1979. The company produced vans, light and heavy trucks,
military vehicles and buses, among others. The Commer brand was
exported worldwide, so today examples are still in use outside the
United Kingdom, albeit mainly as collector's items.
During World War II, Commer produced a series of military vehicles
that were still in use even in the 1980s. During the war, British
humorist Frank Muir, who served in the army, radioed a broken down
vehicle with the words: \"The Commer has come to a full stop\".
